Six letters, 29 Dec. 1852-15 Jan. 1853, Columbia, S.C., William B. Wallace and Jane Yates, Charleston, S.C., re their interest in purchasing a large house owned by a Mr. Barksdale and including architectural description; letter, 27 July 1861, from Edwin J. Scott, Columbia, S.C., re Wallace's stock dividends, the Civil War, and troop movements through Columbia. Also including letter, 13 May 1862, from John S. Preston, Columbia, S.C., re his desire to establish an instructional camp across the Congaree River, requesting reduced tolls, and citing revenue the camp would bring the Columbia & Saluda Bridge Company; letter, 14 May 1862, from Edward Wallace, Army of the Peninsula, re his advancement from private to 3rd Lieutenant, description of Richmond during the Army's retreat from Yorktown, and news of friends.
